Record your flow
Record a flow as an MP4 video and share runs for debugging or demos.
A screen recording shows why a flow failed, or shows people who do not read YAML what a flow does. Watch the recording of a run, or record just one part of a flow.
Why record your flows?
- Debugging: see exactly where a flow fails, and spot problems where the app was not ready to show a screen yet, or showed it wrong.
- Collaboration: send a video of a bug or a user journey to developers and others involved.
- Documentation: keep a video of your app's critical paths.
Watch a recording in Astra Scout
Astra Scout records the device screen on its own while a flow runs, and keeps the recording with the run. In the test runner panel, use Show Recording on a run to open it. The run report also points to the recording.
All recording stays on your Mac. Astra Scout does not send videos to any server.
Record part of a flow
Every run already has one full recording. If you need only one part, you can record that part as its own file, but only on Android: startRecording does not work on iOS. On iOS, use the run recording (Show Recording).
To record a part on Android, put its steps between startRecording and stopRecording:
- startRecording: checkout
- tapOn: "Pay"
- assertVisible: "Order confirmed"
- stopRecordingIf you need just a still image at one step, use takeScreenshot.
Screen recording only
A recording holds only the device screen. It does not include the flow's log or output. To get one part as its own file, use startRecording on Android.
